Mrs. Anderson...good idea on the Earthday Song thing...if I were still in eighth grade (that's what you teach right?) then I would certainly be thrilled at the idea. But that's just me.
Most of the kids didn't like the idea of a song contest for Earth Day. Many struggled with the concept of Earth Day and were not really sure what it had to do with their lives except for an excuse to get out of class and because it was an assignment that was required for a grade. They wanted to do an activty that was fun, but the concern for the environment was not a high priority so it seemed pointless.
This exercise was used as an introduction t the blog so they will see and understand how the structure of this blog is going to be set up.
I will leave this up for a few more days to see if there are any more comments that students want to make on the topic before moving on.
